Former President Carter blasts Bush
Former President Carter says President Bush's administration is "the worst in history" in international relations, taking aim at the White House's policy of pre-emptive war and its Middle East diplomacy.
The criticism from Carter, which a biographer says is unprecedented for the 39th president, also took aim at Bush's environmental policies and the administration's "quite disturbing" faith-based initiative funding.
"I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Carter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in a story that appeared in the newspaper's Saturday editions. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations, including those of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon and others, has been the most disturbing to me."
Carter spokeswoman Deanna Congileo confirmed his comments to The Associated Press on Saturday and declined to elaborate. He spoke while promoting his new audiobook series, "Sunday Mornings in Plains," a collection of weekly Bible lessons from his hometown of Plains, Ga.
"Apparently, Sunday mornings in Plains for former President Carter includes hurling reckless accusations at your fellow man," said Amber Wilkerson, Republican National Committee spokeswoman. She said it was hard to take Carter seriously because he also "challenged Ronald Reagan's strategy for the Cold War."
Carter came down hard on the Iraq war.
"We now have endorsed the concept of pre-emptive war where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened, if we want to change the regime there or if we fear that some time in the future our security might be endangered," he said. "But that's been a radical departure from all previous administration policies."

Your comrade in submarine arms is pathetic-he seems to have conveniently forgotten his own sick, malaise soaked, one term administration.
It doesn’t. It freaks me out.
I never thought I'd agree with Carter, but I do now.......
Carter shouldn't let that go to his head though, because he fills the slot as second worst President ever!
Does anybody care what The Wimp from Plains thinks?

Car-DUH proudly claims to have been a part of ADM Rickovers Nuclear Navy Submarine force. Ask any of the old salts who served in ADM Rickover’s Buclear Navy Submarine force and how you got out and I’m led by many of these old salt that it’s not the way Car-DUH claims.
Each and every passing day shows Jimmy Carter to be an even bigger idiot than before. Carter was and still is the worst U.S. president ever! He’s the reason I switched from the Democrat party to become a Republican.
As a young married man I was struggling to survive, as double-digit inflation in the teens was taking my meager earnings. I watched as the cost of bread, milk, eggs and everything else went up practically every week. Carter mis-managed the economy. Never mind that he also blew it on the international scene as well.
I voted for Ronald Reagan, and life got much better and sweeter for my young family. I curse Jimmy Carter and hope he suffers in hell.
He’s suffering from a bad case of projective delusion - - - he looks in the mirror, and sees Bush instead of himself. He needs to be parked in the Minnesota Home for the Terminally Bewildered, down the road from Lake Woebegone.
Well, if the old sh!t can convince us all of that, it does bump his administration up a notch.
No Jimmy, YOU were the worst in history and YOU will continue to carry that legacy.
Well said!
Jimmah can go p*ss up a rope! I KNOW better as I lived through HIS administration!
I am very conservative and I have to agree with Carter. I was against this war from the beginning. I believe in fighting terrorism. However, this war was started based on deliberate false foreign intelligence about WMD’s. This is Bush’s second biggest blunder preceded by his stance on illegal immigration. The latter is about to change the face of this country forever.
Seems Ol' Peanut Breath has been projecting again. What a disgraceful snivvveling little twerp!
If he signs that bill, Bush will easily have earned his place as worst-ever.
Carter and his idiocy are merely ONE of the multitude of reasons I am a
Recovering_Democrat!
