Bus drivers show support for colleagues

More than a dozen school bus drivers gathered Friday morning in front of a Frederick County Public School building to support two drivers who resigned after an disagreement with officials over safety concerns.

At issue is the right to refuse service to students who threatened violence against drivers or other students, the drivers said.

"This is something every taxpayer and every parent needs to know because every student is in danger," Steve Burdette said.

His wife was disciplined for refusing to pick up a Heather Ridge School student who had threatened her, he said. He also said he was placed on leave for trying to help his wife.

The bus driver is in the right. Some students definitely need to be kicked off buses for the safety of drivers and students alike.
