You have titled the tactic in a precisely correct manner... "the illusion of inevitability!"

I wish I could take credit, but I can't. I'm not the originator of the phrase; I've seen it used to describe the tactics of liberals and socialists for many years.

“We need to get busy here in CA by taking our state and local Party leadership back in conservative hands, immediately and firmly!!!”

Of course you and I agree...unfortunately we failed in 2003 when people then who said they would vote for the only true blue conservative in the race, Tom McClintock but when they went to the polls, voted for the RINO.

And we failed to remove RINOld, Feinstein & Boxer...
so we can’t preach to anyone...

But we can certainly start replacing some of the Liberal congressmen/women in CA next year.

Quite simply, it's their bad luck that their party consists of the kind of people who get terminally upset and outraged that people who snuck into our country and became productive are given absolution by our government.

AS I said PK, its beyond ironic.

Oh well, we warned the 'bots, but a prophet is not without honor apparently, except in his own country.

Or 'grassroots conservative' website:)

“They will be boiled alive by their own party.”

They need to be.

McCain, Graham and Specter do not deserve to be representing their constituencies. These pubbie voters need wake-up calls in those states.

LOL! Then I hope your life is in order. You'll appreciate that statement when you find yourself in a reeducation camp. Or, more likely sitting home with no FreeRepublic to post on.

My next sentence was about giving $ to the RNC. I will support a strong "close the border" Republican candidate, but I will NOT send $ to the RNC anymore. Do you feel good about giving $ to the RNC after this sellout? I don't reward those who destroy this Republic with my hard earned money.

Who’s whining?

The comprehensive policy is as follows:

Reinforce the border with a fence.
Hammer companies that higher illegal works
Make them apply for work visas.

Without jobs, they’ll go home, or they’ll apply for work visas.

Either way, this is a comprehensive policy. What’s more, its self enforcing. Businesses either toe the line or pay a fine, or worse.

The GOP can expand the tent all it wants. It will destroy itself as it does it, because it will become indistinguishable from the DNC. The differences now are few and far between -- frankly, its mostly lip service, now, anyway. Conservatives never "expand the tent" because conservatism is an ideal, a principle, a core value that is only weakened by exceptions. And if you believe that the majority of Hispanics who were born and raised here, or who came here legally, who learned the English language, and who want to be true Americans are for mass amnesty, you are dead wrong. They came here to escape the gangs, druglords, corruption, etc., that mass, unchecked illegal immigration has brought with it.

Amen.

Why should we waste our breath/keystrokes on these people? Only a minority are listening! The rest are treating us and this former nation with former borders like TOTALITARIANS!!!

“Here lies Kellynla. She had principles”

For the record, I don’t have the right plumbing to be a “she.” LOL

And I believe that if Fred Thompson were to come out as a “Law & Order” (pardon the pun LOL) candidate and vowed to enforce the immigration laws and secure BOTH borders and WIN THE WOT; he could lead this party out of the FUNK it is in now.

Semper Fi,
Kelly

Well I do understand your point. And I do think it would be smart for Republicans to attract the hispanics, especially the catholic pro-lifer types. But the demography you mentioned was acheived due to the last great comprehensive immigration policy. It did not work and did not help the Republicans then either. Why repeat the mistake?

The borders have to be secured first. It is not fair to people who have been trying to apply legally to allow cheaters to stay. Not only that, it is not good to allow unlimited indiscriminate immigration. Just study what happened to the Native American Indians,to understand what happens with unlimited immigration.LOL. Look at what has happened in Europe with the Muslims there.

I am not sure what the answer is but this is not it.

What we do need is to get that melting pot thing going, and keep immigration down enough to allow assimilation, and by the way English should not be a second language it should spoken by all citizens of the USA as soon as possible.

I would rather close the borders now, enforce the current laws, and take the time to really study this carefully, and debate it thouroughly not just push it through.

If you don’t register your complaints, they will assume you are for amnesty. They already have bogus polls to back up the support for this bill: http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2007/05/immigration_reform.html

I am staunchly conservative in every facet...except illegal immigration.

It's shocking to me that too many of you are morally outraged...even though your quality of life has not suffered because of it.

Truth be told, all your lives have been better because of the illegal immigrant...but that's for another thread perhaps.

Hmmmmm...maybe President Bush can explain it to you. ;^)

Do you REALLY think that ANY legislation with Ted Kennedy’s name on it is going to seriously address key issues such as border security, actual law enforcement, and serious control over visas? Come on! Kennedy as been playing America for a sucker since the 1960’s on this issue.

If only... I wish. I have never felt so letdown by our government in my life. It like a nightmare. I pray what something good will come from all the righteous anger being expressed across our great Republic.

We are truly at a watershed moment in the history of the United States. The survival of this country as a Republic will depend on overcoming our failed leaders.
