Rush: Immigration Bill Will Kill GOP
NewsMax.com ^ | May 18, 2007 | staff

Supporters call it a Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, but top radio talker Rush Limbaugh has another name for it. He calls it the "Comprehensive Destroy the Republican Party Bill."

During Friday's syndicated broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh program, Rush criticized the Senate's immigration proposal as liberalism gone wild.

"Liberals are trying to tear this country down institution by institution and rebuild it in their own image, and this is one of the steps that they are trying to make it happen," he said.

Rush warned that if this bill comes out of the Senate in its present form - and it's highly doubtful that it will - the liberals in the House will not vote for it. He said the politicians realize that there are Democrats in California, Arizona, Texas and Virginia where illegal immigration is a red hot issue and a vote for this bill would be political suicide.

As for Republicans, they have already lost California, Rush reminded his listeners. If they lose Virginia and lose Florida, it's all over for the GOP as far as elections go. And being blamed for this immigration bill could cost them both states.

Rush explained that this is why Senate Democrats want Republicans to receive "credit" for passing this bill.

"It's a piece of legislation that hardly anybody has ever seen," he said, yet already "there are walls of opposition that are being built on all sides of this."

The bill, he warned, will create "a brand new, giant welfare state paid by the rest of us," yet illegal immigrants are telling the media: "'I don't like this. I don't like having to go home. I don't want to pay these fines.'"

They needn't worry, Rush said. The illegals will not be forced to go home at all. They are not going to pay any fines. It's not going to happen because there is no political will to do so.

"Once this bill passes they'll be talking about how if you have to go home it will split up families and they'll say the fines would be taking food out of the mouths of poor children by making the parents pay these ridiculous fines," Rush told his audience.

Speaking of why any Republicans are supporting the bill, Rush explained: "You could legalize rape in this country if you simply called it the Civil Rights Act of 2007 because nobody on Capitol Hill has the guts to vote against anything that claims to be broadening or creating civil rights. It's a code word."

Let me remind you that I am all for sealing the Southern border...and yesterday would be soon enough.

My soft spot is for the illegal who has come into our country and...

1) behaved himself by not breaking any additional laws.
2) is gainfully employed
3) Is willing to comply with the steps necessary to become a citizen.
4) Makes an honest attempt to learn English.

I read an amazing reply statement from somebody on another site who I believe is also a FReeper, which summarizes my feelings.

He/she said:

"Surely you aren't complaining about it being too easy for a person to come forward and place himself on federal probation.

No, wait, don't tell me, let me guess; you want them to come forward and be placed in prison for a period of several years while proving themselves eligible for a Z visa. Right?"

Is that YOUR position?

Okay, first I have heard of that from you. At least its a start.

My soft spot is for the illegal who has come into our country and...(some are wonderful individuals...blah) (blah) (blah)

Soft-spot? I could say what is really soft...your logic. You miss that these sterling individuals who exhibit SOME good behavior... break our laws as their first act, and often further aid and abet others, and the mass of empirical evidence is that they also often help themselves ...whether employed or not...to the freebies available only for the destitute, draining our essential resources thereto. Not so harmless after all. And as far as "making an honest attempt to learn English"...don't you agree that we should be in a better position to routinely and effectively enforce that before they get here? This is why the legal immigration process must be upheld. Not the end-around.,. btw...we should also shut down the Spanish radio and cable stations so that we don't entrench the problem any worse. To accomplish this...we may need the English Language Constitutional Amendment. How do you stand on that?

you want them to come forward and be placed in prison for a period of several years while proving themselves eligible for a Z visa. Right?" Is that YOUR position?

Nope. A one-way ticket back home. Then let them get back in line, NO butt-inskies.

THe national economy would tank...and the next thing we'd be hearing again from the Left is... "It's the economy stupid".

Nope. We need to take the idled mass of American suppressed labor...disemployed, subemployed, and nonemployed..and let the Free Market Work.

First, I've got news for you. The housing market, your forte...is tanked already.

Second, it is a result of market interference.

Third, its presuming we can do it...i.e., enforce the law and evict them...which most of the White House, Rats and RINOs claim we can't possibly do...

Fourth, your opposition is a prescription for dependancy on lawlessness and an underclass. Let's Stop the Alcoholic dependancy here...and the class warfare from the White House. Hence, terminate Bush's and Kennedy's interference in the market with their illegals.

How much will wages and U.S. employment in the effected sectors rebound with the sudden displacement? I have faith...in God, and in Americans. You should too.

Let's roll.

Come on Paul...if you're going to insist on being obtuse, I'm not interested in playing.

Gotta run now...but I'll respond to your inanity when I get back.

Cheers!

A child tortured with electrodes attatch to his tongue.....IF the media is not outraged about terrorists doing this to Iraqi children, will they be outraged when the terrorists come here and do it to OUR children? When will they be outraged?

When will they be outraged?

That's too easy.

The MSM will most likely be outraged at the prospect of a REAL Reagan-conservative, such as Duncan Hunter taking the White House....

To put the possibility that “the national economy will tank”... a debatable proposition...over and above our Constitution, trumping our sovereignty, or laws, and our future as an unique American civilization...indicates that it is not my side which is being “obtuse”...

LOL... I will restate the question:

What will it take for the MSM to see the Muslim terrorists who have taken a vow to kill infidels for what they are? They beheaded Danile Pearl, but I suspect they blamed that on his being a Jew and disowned him. What will it take to for the MSM to be outraged?

My intent was to place that comment into Rush’s live column, my mistake. But the question is an honest one.....9/11 failed to enrage them........torturing children......BUT Bush outrages them. (((shaking head in frustration)))

That will happen only when they openly kidnap and behead Katie Couric, Nancy Pelosi et al., and blow up the NBC, ABC, CBS and NYT buildings. Then, the MSM croneys who survived...just might have some second thoughts...if they weren't too busy accusing Bush or maybe some nebulous Christian zealots of enraging the "Religion of Peace."

Maybe.

Hence, the MSM is basically a lost cause.

But of course we can't ignore it. Nor should we. Reagan won in spite of it. Albeit he played it masterfully. They thought they were succeeding at smearing him, instead they just succeeded at endearing him to the voters. We must too.
