We live in a representative democracy meaning that once we use the peoples power to elect our officials we expect them to represent their constituents views. The only recourse, absent criminal wrongdoing, is to not vote for them again if they don’t represent that view.

We live in a Constitutional Republic, which means we live by the rule of law. Democracy is not mentioned anywhere in our Constitution. Our forefathers were against democracy because democracy is mob rule.

Anyway they work for us, not the other way around.
