After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.
The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.
In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions every half hour.

I just wish Americans were paying attention, and had at least a little good sense and education about the Constitution. Sadly, most don’t.

In the Texas legislature, they have personal privilege speeches, where protocol prohibits anyone from leaving or entering the floor. Maybe the House Republicans will try those for a while.

she and her cohorts are finally coming out of the woodwork. they are beginning to declare themselves as a party that opposes any legitimate procedure by the minority that operates within the boundaries of a system of checks and balances. (attempted coup d’etat anyone?)

2) They find their giblets.

When the GOP was in charge, they’d get called Nazis by the Rats and the DBM because they would limit the debate in duration so the Rats wouldn’t try a fillibuster. Now the Rats just want to shut down debate all together.

If the Republicans had tried anything like this there would have been calls from the Dems and from the media for impeachment. They are so absolutely power hungry and hypocritical. it would be a joke if it wasn't so ernestly serious.
Having served in our States House of Representatives where republicans are a minority, this does not surprise me. Repeatedly I watched as the Speaker of the House would either change the rules or ignore them when we would fight back. Dems expect us to follow the rules and protect the minority when they are the minority. However, if they do not like how things are done when they are the majority then they see no problem changing the rules to benefit them. You can bet if the Rebs had tried to do something like this two years ago they would have thrown a massive hissy fit.
