Taiwanese Airforce is practicing a take-off/landing drill on a highway located in central Taiwain on May 15, 2007.

Ping!
I’d like to see them try that during rush hour.
They'd need humongous monster truck wheels, except that I don't recall the 16 having 'rough field' takeoff capability. :-)
The Heads-Up display now included EZ Pass?..also, is the plane’s radar detector ILLEGAL in most states..
What many people do not know is that our Interstate highway system was a cold war idea to use for emergency takeoffs and landings and of course as military transport lanes. To qualify as an Interstate Highway it must have a straight and level stretch of lanes large enough for aircraft at least 3 miles long for at least a certain distance apart which might be every 30-50 miles, those “Speedometer Test” areas, mile 1, mile 2, mile 3? emergency landing zones in case the Air Force bases get nuked. As a footnote though any long stretch of highway can be used by military aircraft.
