Is this a "pistol" or a "revolver" or is it the Platupus of handguns?

It is an automatic revolver, and never caught on - if I recall the thing had a wicked trigger pull or something.

I think was is confusing is the the definition of "pistol" shown originally is really the definition of "semi-automatic" or "automatic."
