A rifle has "rifling" (lands and grooves unless it is an HK or a Glock in which case it has polygonal "rifling") in the bore. So does a carbine, which is just a short rifle. Almost all pistols and wheel guns have "rifling." Most shotguns have no rifling since they are designed for shooting shot (pellets).
