Note to self - do not buy anything from China that goes inside your body...

But we don’t care. China is our friend, they’d never hurt us. And, and, and, well, it’s just so cheap.

Every time I go thinking that China will surpass us in the next 50 years, I get reminded why they are just as likely to self-implode. Flip a coin, and tell the future.

Chinese Greens? is this like Mandarin lettuce?

Asia?? The next time I go to Carrefour or Lotus in Chiang Mai, Th. I will have to see where their produce comes from. Apples and Pears are generally from China in the neighborhood markets but everything else is local. My Sister-In-Law raises papaya, "Japanese" eggplant, "Chinese" cabbage, cilantro, chili, several leafy greens I don't know the English name for, mango, jackfruit, banana, lomyai, mint, yams and coconuts. All on her 4 rai plot (about 1 1/4 acres). When we come back to the USA, we miss the taste of field ripe veggies.
Oh, by the way, the Thai maxim "never trust the Chinese or the Arab merchant" -- "If you see a cobra and a Muslim, kill the Muslim" translates into any language.

You don't want to eat tainted food from China?! Protectionists!!
I guess I should make it clear, I'm being sarcastic -- some would in fact scream at you if you interfered with "free trade."

Concern about fresh produce grown in China is particularly increasing in Asia. Well, that speaks volumes, doesn't it?
