Sometimes I think about the one thing I'd like to do if there's ever the opportunity (post apocalytic event or something): drive from Kansas City to Denver in under four hours. That is, actually be able to drive a car built for the autobahn the way it was meant to be driven: fast. I can dream, can't I?

If you've ever driven across Kansas on I-70, you might realize that speed might just not be quite as dangerous as boredom...

And in the spirit of this thread, just remember one of the rules that makes the autobahn so safe, despite the speeds:

Rechtsfahren!

I drove on the Autobahn in Germany a few years ago and I didn’t find it so safe. I was cruising along in the right lane, don’t know how fast 60-70mph, no traffic. I came around a curve and there was a guy going real slow, maybe 30 in the right lane. I put on my blinker to signal I was going to pass when out of nowhere comes a Porsche, had to be doing 120. I was half out into the left lane. I almost creamed the guy who was driving slow and was nearly clipped by the Porsche. If the 3 of us had collided we would all have been dead. Who would have been to blame, the slow driver, the fast driver or me, caught in the middle?
