Attorney: O.J. won't sue Kentucky eatery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- O.J. Simpson won't take legal action against a Louisville restaurateur who booted from a steakhouse on the eve of the Kentucky Derby after all, Simpson's attorney said Saturday.

Simpson and about a dozen guests were asked to leave Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse on May 4 by owner Jeff Ruby, who has said he asked Simpson to leave because "he continues to torment the family whose lives he's already ruined 15 years ago."

Simpson, a Heisman Trophy winner and NFL star, was acquitted in 1995 of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman, but was found liable in a civil trial that followed.

Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, said Ruby is using the episode for publicity.

"If we had our druthers, this would have died that night and been over," Galanter said from his Florida office. "We are not pushing it."

Last week, Galanter had said his client's ejection was about race, and that he intended to pursue the matter and might go after the restaurant's liquor license.

"He screwed with the wrong guy, he really did," Galanter said of Ruby a few days ago.

restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because
he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.

Simpson and about a dozen guests

What kind of empty headed freaks are so star-struck that they would want to run with this murderer? I can't comprehend how he can still have friends, admirers, and a line of blond girlfriends hovering around him.

Here's a related article. I'll post it here rather than make another thread.

SIMPSON FORCED TO DROP KENTUCKY RESTAURANT ACTION

2007-05-12 04:04:32 -

O.J. SIMPSON has been forced to drop a lawsuit against a restaurant owner who threw him out because he disapproved of his conduct following the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her companion Ron Goldman. Restaurant boss Jeff Ruby asked the American football legend to leave Joe Ruby's Steakhouse in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month (May07).

This week (begs07May07), Simpson's attorney Yale Galanter said he believed his client's eviction was racially motivated.

However, during an interview on The Big Show With Steve Mason & John Ireland on ESPN Radio on Thursday (10May07) night, Ruby said, "I got a phone call from the Goldman lawyers, and he's not going to be able to do this lawsuit anyway, because they've already taken preemptive action in case there is a claim." In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of the murders of his former wife and Goldman.

In 1997, he was found liable for their deaths in a civil court - he still owes the majority of the $33.5 million (GBP16.75 million) he was ordered to pay.

” I can’t comprehend how he can still have friends, admirers, and a line of blond girlfriends hovering around him.”

They’re only associating with him because of his money. If his investments were to dry up, he’d be the loneliest man in the nation.

Because he has a nice smile. Therefore, he MUST be sincere. That's the gist of the US American Idol mentality.

Mr. Goldman, SR, won a widely known civil suit against OJ for millions of dollars, IIRC.

Has the family of Ron Goldman, who was murdered by OJ, been paid a single cent?

NO

Which is why OJ can't sue, because even if he won anything from Jeff Ruby, the Goldmans would immediately get it and return the money to Ruby.

Click on the picture below to hear Jeff Ruby explain it in an excerpt from a radio interview. You must have a media player on your computer that can play MP3's.

Strange, isn't it? Simpson got off because a racist jury thought the lives of two white people weren't worth sending a black man to death row.

Now if Simpson is "discriminated" against, he has no legal remedy. He is legally a second-class citizen, despised and shunned wherever he goes -- except in the ghetto, where he doesn't want to go. Somehow, I don't think the jurors foresaw this.

Another result of his notoriety, is that millions of people he's never even met hate his guts. Maybe Simpson is too psychopathic to care, but I would be extremely nervous walking around like this. If just one of those millions of complete strangers did me harm, where would the police start their investigation? How do you narrow down a suspect list of 100 million people?

You wouldn’t believe the number of idiots who don’t understand the right to private property is a constitutional right, and the owner of private property can discriminate against potential customers for any reason except race, gender, or national origin. There were actually comments on some of the news stories that because OJ was not convicted of capital murder, he has the right to go anywhere he wants. Actually, OJ was convicted on misdemeanor domestic violence charges filed after he beat up Nicole Simpson. This misdemeanor conviction is sufficient under federal to prevent OJ from legally buying a firearm. Should someone who is banned from possessing a firearm due to a felony conviction, be allowed to use a steak knife in a restaurant?

Equating murder with the fact that a man is black is racist. They should go after Galanter's license to practice law.

They way this guy parades around, I’m surprised he hasn’t been popped by another psychopath looking for a name and fame.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Galanter to lose his law license. The legal profession has pretty low standards for getting rid of scum.

I wonder if The Second Lady has yet to find the real adulterer, and if he’s using OJ’s methods for nabbing the real murderer... To be serious, I think that the most telegenic candidate usually wins elections, save in an assassination or impeachment situation. What if nobody had ever seen The Second Lady* except as an editorial cartoon? Do you think that he would have won the presidency?

I haven't surveyed all the psychopaths, but I suspect they admire him. Here's a guy who murdered two innocent people, left a mountain of incriminating evidence at the crime scene, in his car and in his home, and beat the rap anyway. That's a psychopath's wet dream.

If someone takes him out, it's likely to be a guy with a relative who suffered a similar injustice.

Remember what happened to "Father" Geoghan, the pedophile homosexual rapist priest? He was stomped to death in prison by an inmate who'd been sexually molested by a priest.
