Studio 60': Say Goodbye to a Sure Thing (NBC cancels Leftie Aaron Sorkin's show)
FOX News ^ | 5/11/07 | Roger Friedman

Studio 60" is over. Some news services are reporting that the sets have been struck, others are talking about the new dramas NBC has ordered to replace last May's "sure thing."

But this much is known: On Monday, NBC will formally announce the end, thank God, of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."

One of the most expensive hours in TV history, "Studio 60" was a goner even before it hit the airwaves. The ill-conceived drama about a comedy sketch show wasn't funny or tense, it was simply annoying.

The real back story of "Studio 60" is what will remain the legend. Once NBC's Jeff Zucker put Aaron Sorkin's take on the backstage doings of "Saturday Night Live" into motion, the decision caused an uproar.

"SNL" creator Lorne Michaels jumped into the fray and wasn't going to have some pretentious fools on the West Coast muscle in on his territory. He insisted that NBC add his comedy, "30 Rock," to the schedule.

Michaels, of course, got the last laugh; "30 Rock" has been renewed. It's a hit. Alec Baldwin has won awards for his work, while Tina Fey was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people of 2007. The show is funny.

Meanwhile, Sorkin and company have cost the network millions that they will never recoup, even on DVD sales that were targeted at weird "West Wing" geeks who tuned in less and less each week.

NBC would be better off running YouTube videos for an hour.

I’d do her, but I wouldn’t want to talk politics with her. Sounds like you’re thinking with the wrong head.

Never heard of either show. Well ok, I might have heard of them. Never watched them. Though I'm not sorry I'm missing that "rude little pig", Alec Baldwin.

The only NBC show I watch is, "Heroes".

Ah, yes, that's the one.
It didn't show up on my screen at first, but I copied the URL for the source code.

I don’t deny it... but she cracks me up. Hey, I think Jane Garafalo (sp) is cute, too, but her politics damn near overwhelm it. Damn near.

I dunno about Jane, her personal hygiene doesn’t look too good to me. I imagine she has a musky odor, and not a good one.

It’s amazing how politics influence the perception of beauty. I mean, Ann Coulter looks like she is assembled from Tinker Toys and was stunt double for the wraith in Poltergeist, but every thread about her gets drooled over.

Ballot box beer goggles?

I agree Ann is skinny, but between her and Jane, I wouldn’t have to think too hard before choosing.

There’s a cute little RAT commentator on several of the FOX shows named Laura Shultz (I think). She’s an obnoxious lying leftist, but she is one cute little babe. After all, it’s not exactly unheard of for a man to put up with all kinds of defects to get what he really wants. Ask any married man. (poor suckers)

There is a little secret that women in some circles have, they have declared a war on men. Women are educated, sexually they can do who and what they want with no fears of pregnancy and if it happens to be a sperm donor, well the men are going to pay for that kid too. In the mean time women ,per TV and movies-fairytale land, can kick mens butt, still look sexy. So in the minds of some women due to the preoccupation that men have with a woman's body they have more and more power over men. Now being a woman I don't like the way some women have decided to act in regards to men. But I have got to say it drives me nuts to see a movie and some chick has to save the big, strong guy. Can it happen, maybe, but in most cases no. I have always said in a fire where my life is threatened I will ask for the biggest, strongest, yea good looking if at all possible but not required,MAN they can find to save my life. So seeing men getting goofy over Tina Fey cracks me up since she is a liberal and cares nothing of what free-republic stands for. And my husband thinks she's hot too and I just laugh at him too. It's a new world out there guys.
