Hmmm... you know, if they do sue..

How can they sue, and for what grievance? That the FR poster accurately reported another person's comments?

Oh yeah, I know that in the US almost anybody can file suit against almost anybody else for almost anything, but getting a judge to allow a frivolous, groundless, harassment lawsuit to go to trial isn't always the slam dunk that so many people think it is.

I won't deny that there are no doubt an entire corps of liberal judges out there who would jump at the chance to preside over a courtroom rectal exam of FR and JR. But the prospect of going up against the team of high powered lawyers who could be hired by FReeper's contributions to a JR legal defense fund would not be exactly what the aggrieved party had probably envisioned at the outset.

I say let the morons sue. After they're figuratively beaten to a pulp in the courtroom, or more likely beforehand, we can ridicule and mock them to our heart's content just as we usually do most of the time around here anyway.

Hi all,

I have never yet posted here, even though I’ve lurked for many years. In this case however, I would like to put my money where my mouth is and vow to donate $100 (not much, but it’s what I can afford) towards a defense fund to help with this issue. It seems like the DNC has decided to use ACLU tactics, threatening to sue to stifle behavior, free speech, etc.
So this is how they will control the blogs!? Game on...
