If Rudy thinks he is going to win the Republican primary in ANY state by emphasizing his pro-abortion views then he has really lost it. There may be less Republican voters in CA, NY, and NJ but those that are there still embrace the party platform which includes being pro-life. But hey, if Rudy wants to run a horrible campaign strategy that’s fine with me, it will make it that much easier to get rid of him.
Actually his strategy may be to present himself as the only alternative to all the other candidates in the field. Everyone else is attempting to portray themselves as pro-life and anti-abortion. I think he thinks that if he comes across as pro-abortion, that he can pick up all of the liberal republican and RINO votes in the primaries and walk away with 25 to 30% of the primary votes and if the other 7 or 8 candidates take in 10% each, he can walk away with the nomination.
I think he is running away from the base because he knows that the base (Family oriented religious conservatives) will NEVER support him. What surprises me, however, is how many family oriented religious conservatives actually do support him. Maybe this will change their minds. Maybe not.
