As George Carlin used too say, selling is legal, f@#&ing is legal. Why when you combine the two is it illegal?

There is no difference between a whore and a golddigger. Yet the latter is perfectly legal.

There is no point arguing about legalizing prostitution with people who would support the criminalization of some combination of pre-marital sex, non-vaginal heterosexual sex, non-abortive contraception, and divorce. It is like arguing about the WOD with folks who think we should bring back alcohol prohibition and ban tobacco. Both are exercises in futility.

Politics is the most disgusting and insidious form of prostitution. If this form of prostitution is legal then perhaps other forms should be legal, especially since consensual sex between adults is far better than the treatment we get from many politicians.

Prostitutes and Politics Why is it still illegal to pay for sex?

Maybe because there are still those who get their jollies mostly by having a secret naughty side to them. They can only be satisfied by publicly renouncing such behavior while engaging in it privately?

"Yet prostitution is perhaps the ultimate victimless crime: . . ."

Victimless? Let's see: 1) STD's passed on to either the prostitute or the "John". 2) Most prostitution also has drug use/abuse involved 3) Pimps who sell women for their personal profit - often getting the woman strung out on drugs in order to get them to prostitute themselves 4) The breakdown of Marriage due to prostitution 5) Prostitutes being murdered because they are prostitutes (by some sick individual - recall the man in WA state who did just that). 6) The aftermath of the breakdown of Marriage results in single parent households and the pain and misery inflicted upon the children of these Marriages. I'm sure there are many more ways in which prostitution could be identified to produce victims in a society. Victimless? I don't buy it.

NO - prostitution is a victimless crime and I see nothing wrong with exchanging sex for money. What two consenting adults do in private is NONE of the government's business. Their contractural arrangement isn't hurting any one else.

In all these replies, has anyone pointed out that if someone wants to have sex, they should have sex with their spouse?

Sex is not like air or food or water. It’s not like we’ll die if we don’t get laid as soon as the urge hits us.

(Although many act like they’ll die.)

Why? Because it’s wrong! The government can’t condone something that is fundamentally wrong - something that spreads disease, destabilizes and destroys the family unit and the many other destructive forces it has.
