Something else - NASCAR has changed fundamentally in the past five years. Even if Teresa had better management skills, I'm not so sure she could have kept up with the changes and dealing with the problems with NASCAR (which have nothing to do with her, but with the sport as a whole). NASCAR has some serious problems right now (problems that won't be fixed by the CoT no matter how much Bill France Jr gives us the song and dance). There's the issues of bad calls, that may or may not favor some. That's turned a lot of fans off - I think whether you agree with Tony Stewart's comments or the comments of Darrel Waltrip (i.e. the "phantom debris" or "Pierre DeBris has brought out the caution" as Waltrip says it), they touched on something a lot of fans are wondering about (and it doesn't help that NASCAR has told both to put a lid on it). Fans are wondering about calls that are being made or not being made, and even if Stewart was venting and even if Waltrip was being the cranky ex-driver, they hit a nerve.
Fans are also wondering about domination by Henrick cars. Chad Knaus and Jimmie Johnson have a well-deserved reputation for cheating, and they are on the same team as Gordon, and a lot of people have quietly been wondering if something funny is going on. It didn't help that Gordon won sunday with a car that should have sat out a few laps getting worked on for overheating. NASCAR has torn cars apart from teams that have won a lot less. Anybody who has seen a car truly torn down by NASCAR knows what I'm talking about.
If it keeps up, NASCAR is going to wonder where the casual fans went, and they are going to wonder why the sponsor money is drying up. For every good move NASCAR makes, they take a few steps back, and Teresa and Jr., etc., just so happen to be having their problems right in the middle of a bad stretch for NASCAR.

Ever since little Brains took over, things have sort of been a mess. We’ve gone down a one way road and there is no turning back now. I sometimes liken Nascar to our country, it once was great but now it falters. It’s not the fault of the people but the guys in charge.
As far as Hendrick goes, Nascar did keep JJ’s winning COT a few days longer than normal tearing it apart under the guise of it being a new car and all. They didn’t find anything, at least not that they reported, so I guess all was ok.
