Yes it’s zipping right along, I hope the racing gets better. Nascar is losing fans right and left lately.

For those who used to watch INC.......

In the host chair sits the loneliest man in North America. Dave Despain has been universally blamed for “ruining” this show, hating NASCAR, and almost anything else that fans can think of. A veteran announcer in a true no-win situation, Despain once had WindTunnel on live every night and was the “Larry King” of SPEED. Then, management left racing and skewed to the hip-hop “NOPI” culture, the “reality” entertainment genre, and an endless string of poorly conceived NASCAR “theme” shows. WindTunnel was traded for Pinks, Unique Whips, and NASCAR Nation. Former all-star Despain was traded to Inside NEXTEL Cup. Roger Clemens had been sent to The Toledo Mud Hens.

Predictions For Darlington?

Amy: Jimmie Johnson.
Toni: Jeff Gordon.
Tom: Gordon in a romp.
Tommy: Tony Stewart.
Tony: I think RCR is showing strength at the CoT races, and Jeff Burton will return to his old self.
Matt T.: Believe it or not, I’m tempted to say Ryan Newman. But not that tempted…Jeff Gordon.
Vito: Jeff Gordon. Darlington will make a ton of money on recyclables that breach the fence afterwards once that happens. I like that Ryan Newman pick though. I almost was going to pick him.
Tommy: Gordon’s a good bet though. That guy can flat out drive that track!
Vito: Well, I’m picking Gordon based on his past success and the inability of anyone to pass a Hendrick car on a CoT track yet.
Tommy: If Newman isn’ t out front…what’s the line on him wrecking Montoya?
Tony: 2-1.
Matt T.: 7-2.
Vito: Maybe Juan Pablo will return the favor.
Tom: Honestly, Juan Pablo may just wreck on his own. Remember, this is the track Too Tough To Tame…and with the CoT being “hard to drive,” I’m sure we’ll see a usual share of wrecks.
Matt T.: Speaking of which, my Derby pick came in DEAD LAST.
Vito: If I had a Kentucky Derby horse, I would name him Elmer.
Matt T.: I’d name him Stud.
Amy: Elmer Stud?
Vito: Nah, Elmer’s Glue Factory. Quarter horse… 3/4 dog food, 1/4 glue.
Tom: Ahhh…the Horse of Tomorrow.

Regrettably, Nascar has lost a lot of fans.
I've been a fan for over twenty years. The over-hyped commercialism and over riding sponsor interests, selective rule enforcement, and predominance of certain "wimpy" drivers has caused me (and I suspect) many fans to question why this wonderful "down to earth" sport has changed so dramatically.

I have found myself doin other stuff rather than watching because of changes that don't relate to fan interest. Driver character and personal values are most important to me, not the glitz and ego that seem to prevail.

Dave Despain has had the courage to question some of the stuff that has been going on, including questionable late race caution flags. We don't get that truth from many other commentators who are paid by Nascar or the broadcast stations.
