And this speaks volumes from Tony Jr....
“I’m interested in going with him,” Eury Jr. told FOXSports.com on Wednesday. “He takes care of his people. Whether it’s a pat on the back or ways to entertain them, he takes care of everyone around him. Much like the way people are treated at Hendrick Motorsports. Junior does the same thing. Owners who don’t treat their people well suffer.”
I stopped in at a local FBO this morning and the talk was about Darlington. One of the pilots had his laptop out and showed me these two websites.
Be sure to check the home page at http://discussions.flightaware.com/ There’s lots of good stuff there.
Thanks I follow him a lot through that. He has one plane that I know of and the tail number they were talking about is unknown to me.?
He was in Georgia today, probably a commercial for the track.
Yes I’m a stalker. lol /not
It’s a news nightmare!!
Whirling and swirling.
Clare B on XM radio said........
She reiterated what David Poole posted... that he will announce that he is leaving but nothing specific. Free agency only???
She believes that Teresa will immediately try to recruit the biggest name possible to replace him. [Who in the heck could that be, there is no one bigger that’s available and would put themselves in that mess]?? Is there?
Regrettably, Nascar has lost a lot of fans.
I've been a fan for over twenty years. The over-hyped commercialism and over riding sponsor interests, selective rule enforcement, and predominance of certain "wimpy" drivers has caused me (and I suspect) many fans to question why this wonderful "down to earth" sport has changed so dramatically.
I have found myself doin other stuff rather than watching because of changes that don't relate to fan interest. Driver character and personal values are most important to me, not the glitz and ego that seem to prevail.
Dave Despain has had the courage to question some of the stuff that has been going on, including questionable late race caution flags. We don't get that truth from many other commentators who are paid by Nascar or the broadcast stations.
I would imagine that the “Nascar Changing Tail Numbers”
thread is a good one to keep the link to if you are interested in what type of planes these guys are flying in.
It started back in September and is still active.
My money says Biffle, though I will note I'm putting only a dime on that one. It would be the perfect elegant solution for Roush to pare down to 4 teams since he'll be hunting for sponsors for the #16 (again) after this year.
As for Jr's chassis/engine choice, that speaks volumes for precisely what the top tier of this sport has come to (and that's all I will say here).
Yes it’s very interesting, I actually didn’t know they had a discussion area. :)
Tony Stewart may have taken a lot of heat for speaking out on the caution deal, but I bet he got Nascar’s attention.
The COT was supposed to give us side by side racing, so far it hasn’t. I guess we will have to wait and see how it does in the next races, the Dega COT race should be interesting to say the least.
Well, I wouldn’t say Biffle is a BIG name.
DEI cannot ever be successful without Jr. JMO.. They haven’t been so far because they did not put the effort into the racing portion of the company. That’s been the biggest problem and why Jr wanted 51% but not with a board of directors and a Yates/Ford issue on top of it.
DEI is currently in a full company meeting.
Latest is Jr will not announce today who he will drive for next year. They had a full company meeting this morning to tell them he will NOT be driving for DEI next year.
Hendrick and RCR are the teams who could be interested.
He has sponsors lining up at the door, per Marty Smith...but already has the biggest sponsor he needs.
Rumor that Gilliland may go to DEI and there may be a merger with Yates. Good luck with all that T.
All the BIG names, other than Jr, are good through at least 2009 (i.e. all the competitive past champs, FastKasey and Flipper). The list of drivers that are confirmed free agents after this year isn't exactly deep, with a huge drop-off between Jr and Northurn Burton, and a gigantic drop-off after him. I'd think that Biffle is a bit north of Burton on the name scale.
Ping-a-ling!
Earnhardt to leave DEI after season

“Soooooooo anyone wanting to pick up places FRFL pick someone other than Jeff. [if you dare] :)”
If not Flash how about Biffle?
Meanwhile not sure JP Moveover will last long enough to get to Newman. That dude is a wreck looking for a place to happen. I bet he gets more and more frustrated and never settles down.
So after the dust has settled a bit, what do you think about it?
Yesterday's rumor was Dale Jr and MT jr leaving. No mention of MT jr today. Yesterday's version was a nightmare, I thought - starting up their own Cup team.....
Today's release was much better - going somewhere. And big $$$ will follow, no doubt.
So who gets kicked off the HMS team? lol
RCR - ? For some reason, I don't think that is where he will end up.
No matter where he goes though (and this was cool), Bud said, "Ummm....we follow him!", and I have no doubt he will be driving a car with the #8 on it. What, Nascar going to say, "No" - ? To Jr and the sponsor? Not likely.
He has a small video on his page http://www.infieldparking.com/DaleJr
He is worried about his fans being disappointed. I can’t believe he’s worried about us. I have sent him 8 messages today as well as to Kelley, Mike and Thayer the VP at Jr Motorsports who sent me back a note. They are all worn out after all this, and so am I.
Martin was just on Nascar Now saying that he didn’t know about this until last night. He is staying through 2008 until his contract is up then he will decide what is best for him.
Tony Jr said he wants his team to be assured of a winning team and will make his decision when Jr lands somewhere. TJ does have an opt out of his contract if Jr leaves DEI.
Kelley has always said they don’t want to run a Cup team unless they have to out of JR Motorsports. They will need to decide pretty quick as the various collectibles like diecasts etc have to be started soon to get them done by Daytona.
I think his best bet is RCR, Richard is a father figure and will be good for him. He will give him the proper equipment to win. It won’t be the “3” as it should because Jr doesn’t want to be in his father’s shadow at this moment in time. He needs to be his own man, he wants to succeed on his own as he said for his family his friends and his employees.
He said he will race the “3” when he’s 45 or 50. :) lol
I don’t want HMS to kick anyone out. The 25 team has never been good for some reason, but if he wants it we will follow. He’s the Pied Piper after all. :)
I'm thinking Dale Jr needs to make a clean break from DEI. There are / have been / always will be issues when family is involved. If Jr is to do this, shed the skin and start over. Matt Borland is available! lol
Seriously, I think that if Jr drags over a bunch of people from DEI to where ever he goes, it will work against him.
I'm a family guy but in this case, Jr just needs to say "see ya" and walk away. On his own.
I dont want HMS to kick anyone out. The 25 team has never been good for some reason, but if he wants it we will follow
I disagree. Coin toss: heads, Kyle, tails, Kyle. See ya! lol.
Another team for Joe Gibbs........?
bumpity
RCR would be a hot matchup.
Jr is a man who I believe will, if not follow in his father’s footsteps, at a minimum, make daddy proud. It fortifies his drive. There are championships in his future.
Those may be some pretty big footsteps, but these days, Jr’s well suited to the task.
jmo.
