The abortion debate brought home He and his wife have always been pro-choice; recently, they were forced to make the Choice. By Dan Neil May 6, 2007
MY WIFE AND I just had an abortion. Two, actually. We walked into a doctor's office in downtown Los Angeles with four thriving fetuses two girls and two boys and walked out an hour later with just the girls, whom we will name, if we're lucky enough to keep them, Rosalind and Vivian. Rosalind is my mother's name.
We didn't want to. We didn't mean to. We didn't do anything wrong, which is to say, we did everything right. Four years ago, when Tina and I set out on this journey to have children, such a circumstance was unimaginable. And yet there I was, holding her hand, watching the ultrasound as a needle with potassium chloride found its mark, stopping the heart of one male fetus, then the other, hidden in my wife's suffering belly....

Because as human beings we do not like to be told NO. For some people the desire for children can lead them to do things that most would not think of.Wanting children so bad and putting out so much money and knowing full well they would have to kill some of them just so they have what they wanted. It is not all about children,or they could’ve adopted. It just makes no sense to want children so bad and then knowing you will be ok with killing your own children. It’s like an Urban Legend.
It's the love....
They WILL read it someday. They'll likely praise their parents for having the "courage" to make such a tough decision. The "parents" will make sure these girls have the same weird outlook on life that they have.
I have about as much sympathy for them as they had for their own children.
I wonder what they would do if those girls died, or have birth defects?
No it doesn’t. What kind of heartless being are you? Human lives are not disposable commodities.
If this is what they are willing to do publicly, to their own children for the sake of safety and convenience what would they be willing do to others for the same reasons?
The problem was allegedly the mother’s health, not the babies. There was no mention of danger to the babies that way in the article. They shouldn’t have implanted so many if they knew that all might take and then they’d have to kill off the ones they didn’t want.
even with the last one it was “what? pregnant again?”...until the little bugger shows up and charms their socks off.
I wholeheartedly agree. At some point the girls may similarly be deemed to be an inconvenience or a risk to someone's well being, such as in a custody dispute or when someone has a new lover.
So it's okay to create life and then murder it in order to save time and money. Your utilitarian world veiw is abhorrent.
I think an accurate paraphrasing (in context) of this statement would be
“Just because something is technically possible doesn’t mean it is morally admissible”
Yes, it is sad. Worse though, one thought crossed my mind...what if Almighty God decides to take the remaining two? What if his plan and blessing for these two selfish people was to bring all 4 into this world? May God help this couple realize their mistake.
Isn't is really sad how the "pro-choice" crowd seems to get stuck on only one choice? And why do they insist on using the word "fetus"?
"Fetus" is the Latin for young one, offspring.
Gee, isn't that a BABY?
Please FreepMail me if you want on or off my Pro-Life Ping List.
Far too quiet. No matter the intentions or the apparent joy successful outcomes may bring, IVF is an objective evil that attempts to subjugate human procreation. Its consequences for mankind and society may not be fully understood for decades.
-didn’t they buy a car that would fit all your kids? I seem to remember that....LOL!
one of my best friends gave birth at 6 mo. gestation. her daughter was born at 1 lb. 10 oz. 18 years ago. that preemie is now an honor student just finishing her first year of college at St. Vincents, in Latrobe PA. life is miraculous and not to be discarded.
Read this in the AM and it made me sick. After watching last night TV and a family of 14 and going to have more.
All we can do is pray for them.
Has anyone ever seen an article that played up the husband and wife and their decision to have the baby no matter what?
I can just see the writer drooling as the story was being written.
“And yet there I was, holding her hand, watching the ultrasound as a needle with potassium chloride found its mark, stopping the heart of one male fetus, then the other, hidden in my wife’s suffering belly....”
The evil Nazi bastards....
..6 months gestation....amazing!!
If you could have seen all the bells and whistles our little one was attached to....
..she looked like a little bird almost, her skin was so fragile, the cartilage not quite set in her ears...they were floppy..
..but a strong will and tenacious hold on life.
The very first day, the NICU nurse said...
"This one is feisty!!"
