The PC-Greenie solution is to use re-usable canvas bags that you bring from home.

The plastic bags aren’t worth crap by the way and often break shortly after bagging. Many stores double bag them automatically to compensate.

On the other hand, you have some employees that consider each plastic bag “full” after putting 2 items in one so you wind up with 8 little bags to carry (and throw out).

Typically you get better storage in a single paper bag (but even these aren’t of the same quality and you shouldn’t trust the handles on a paper bag).

The dilemma is that it takes more fuel to cart the paper bags thus polluting the environment. My local grocery store has sings all over stating that they desire we use plastic and also sell reusable canvas type bags for 99 cents each.

I use plastic as I can lug more when I get home.
