someone else did say that Nancy Reagan’s dress is silver not white...I’ll bet Pelosi is the type to show up at her son’s wedding in a white dress to upstage the bride...or in the same color as the bride’s Mom...you know the type, lol..

CSpan 2 is life now.

It's pretty important - but LIFE? (You apparently don't watch '24'.)

I thought in the various books of etiquette that the last thing one does is to decline an invitation to the White House. Why are we (and that’s the Royal We) not surprised Reid would do that ?

I still use a fork and spoon like garden tools. That could explain my missing invite.

Yah know... I waited through a few dozen posts to see if somebody would properly take you to the woodshed for this most unfortunately ignorant of posts.

Of course Titles of Nobility are not established within the United States. But it would be the height of classlessness or frankly just plain rude to fail to officially recognize the noble title of a foreign dignitary being welcomed to a state function in their honor.

Please....

I’ll bet the portions are so small that you can’t help but eat daintily. I would have to pull a Scarlett O’Hara and eat before I left so I could pick at my food and eat slowly...

mware, I remember as a kid in the ‘50’s King Farouk’s predicting that at the end of the (20th) century there would be but five kings left on Earth ... the kings of spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds, and the King of England. He wasn’t too far off.

That’s a good idea, but I wouldn’t be able to resist offering my untouched food to the Queen, so I’d probably still get kicked out.

That looks like the dress she wore to RWR’s first inaugural ball(s). Usually the FLOTUS will give her inaugural gown(s) to the Smithsonian, but what she’s wearing tonight looks very much like what she wore 1/20/81.

well, her first inaugural ball gown was white and silvery looking, but I think not so modestly cut .. and it IS on display at the Smithsonian, so obviously not the same. But Nancy does have and know her own style. The 2nd inaugural festivities for RWR were cancelled, so I have no memory at all of what she was to have worn.

DO you remember how much trouble the press caused because so much of her wardrobe was lent by the designers? Also a brouhaha about the china she got (nothing, of course, about the Clinton china).
