agreed.
I have been trying to locate a time line as far as when Gen Georges Sada moved the WMD from Iraq to Damascus via the two gutted jets. I know there were over 50 missions flown but I don’t know exactly when.
I wonder if anyone here knows the time line.
Sada of course was the Air Force Gen. for Saddam.

I don’t blame the MSM entirely for Bush not getting his message out. He has not proven to be a good communicator nor has the WH done enough to counter the Dem propaganda.

I blame a nation with a majority that has not been able to overcome the damage done to its psyche by the illusion of well-being that prosperity and hedonism generate. The 9/11 attack was not enough to convince a critical mass of the population that the US is in great danger.

The MSM is the handmaiden of the treacherous Left, and Dubya is a less than artful communicator who lacks a top notch public affairs organization. But none of this, IMHO, can explain the lack of American determination and unity in the face of a challenge that will only become more perilous. This nation's will has been blunted by the good life.

For me, the question has now become whether we can ever regain the strength to mobilize against the enemy without suffering more devastating assaults. And, frankly, I am beginning to have doubts about that, as well.

It’s amazing to me that France gets so much of its power from nuclear power and it’s never mentioned over here at all.

Yes, they do. More than anyone realizes. In addition, there has never been a nuclear power plant problem in France that I’m aware of.

I hate to get conspiratorial, but so much of our energy needs are so obvious and other countries are already doing things we should, why in the heck aren’t we?

Yes, they could change the civil service regulations. I seriously doubt any significant change would have a chance of being passed by Congress. There have been some changes passed recently after some real battles. Congress views the “entrenched” USG bureaucracy as an ally against the Executive Branch, i.e., the WH.

Thanks much, looks like without a huge Republican majority of both houses and a Republican President change will most likely not happen any time soon.

I blame the Dem party far more than the MSM. When you have one of the two major political parties sacrificing the welfare of the country for domestic political advantage, it is difficult to mobilize public opinion in support of our foreign policy and the war.

There are other reasons why this country has become less unified and more atomized in terms of our national identity and sense of shared endeavor, but I don't have the energy to do it today.

I tend to put the blame on the left, and those Democrats and media people who have jumped on the environmentalism bandwagon. DDT could save thousands of lives in Africa, but too many oppose the reintroduction of it.

An example of this comes from the no smoking efforts as the left realized how they could incrementally impose their values on us. Today, we have solid conservatives who oppose smoking so vehemently that they too vote to ban a legal product and limit freedom of choice. The whole thing started with just a warning on packs of cigarettes. What could be wrong with that? Then it became separate but equal seating areas, then no smoking on planes. Now we have whole communities banning smoking in public and a few who want to increase the ban to individual homes or in their own vehicles. (By the way, a smoker friend of mine told me about an American-Indian brand of cigarette that does not cause cancer because it’s made of tobacco not cured with cancer causing processes.)

And don’t leave out the lefts influence in our schools, as they have been indoctrinating kids for years. We have over fifty years of leftist teaching to overcome.

The Sunday Morning Talk Shows - The Review

IT'S MAY, FORCRYINGOUTLOUD!

By Mark Kilmer

Sunday, May 06, 2007

On MTP, part of the George Tenet book tour, host Tim Russert asked the former DCI about aluminum tubes.

Chris Dodd was Chris Wallace's first guest on FNS, and Dodd declared the "American public" wanted to get out of Iraq like Russ Feingold. He said that his Carbon Tax would be easier to foist on the "American public" because it applies to them more indirectly than Tom Friedman's proposed gasoline tax.

Next on FNS, John Boehner supported benchmarks as a means to ensure success in Iraq. He said that he does not support them as a way to ensure failure.

On TW, John Edwards said that while he opposes the genocide in Darfur, we shouldn't send troops there; likewise, we should not send troops back to Iraq to stop that genocide once we leave. Edwards said that he hasn't been to Iraq because civilians can't go there.

On FTN, New Gingrich said that if Sarkozy wins the French election, Republicans should take a hint from the French for the next election and run against the current Washington order. Chuck Rangel came on a few minutes later and said, basically, that the "American public" has embraced Russ Feingold and demanded that the Democrats get us out of Iraq by any means necessary. He's been partying with Jack Murtha.

On LE, Wolf Blitzer talked to three ambassadors to the United States: from Iraq, from Syria, and from Egypt. Most interesting, I thought, was Syrian Ambassador Imad Moustapha, who says that his country has the same goals in Iraq as does the United States and that we all should work together to end the violence in Iraq. He did not mention stopping foreign terrorists from entering Iraq from Syria.

Wolf next spoke with George Tenet, still hawking his book. I offer a bit of a tongue-twister in honor of his appearance on LE.

The show-by-show review is beneath the fold…

I agree with you. And I agree trying to explain one brings up too many to consider: immigration, English only, anchor babies, environmentalism, socialism, and issue after issue that reflects this problem.

Dodd favors hidden taxes so Democrats can continue blaming the oil companies for high prices, and they can deflect any complaints against the left.

Coverage, with a profile of Sarkozy:

Oh, in case you missed it (From MacKinnon):

Democracy Wins in Ukraine, Russia Loses!

Snip:

The standoff is over for now, and Viktor Yushchenko appears to have won the test of nerves against his arch-rival, Viktor Yanukovich. The two men announced today that they have agreed to hold new parliamentary elections in the near future, something Yushchenko has been demanding since dissolving parliament last month amid a bribery scandal. So far, no date has been set, but Yushchenko said today that the vote would be held within 60 days. July 8 is the best guess of some people in the know. Why did Yanukovich throw in his cards? Because his “Blue Revolution” on the streets of Kyiv was a failure. The demonstrations on Independence Square were lifeless affairs, and as word got out that most of the protestors were being paid to participate, the farce became more of an embarassment to Yanukovich than a tool for pressuring Yushchenko.
