We don't need another Reagan (which is good, because we won't be getting one, anyway). What we need is a leader who will be what Reagan was in his time, for our time.

Reagan helped bankrupt and dismantle the Soviet Union so we could live in peace with Russia and the former Soviet Republics. We don't need someone who will help reshape an enemy state--we need someone who knows we have an ideological enemy which will never be satisfied, and must be battled from now on.

Reagan signed an amnesty bill into law. People can spin that any way they like, but he did. We sure don't need that now.

Reagan fought to cut the budget, but instead ballooned the deficit and the national debt. We don't need that now, no matter how beneficial Reagan's tax policies were.

To spell it out for the dullards who will no doubt attack this post: I am NOT criticizing Reagan. He is one of our greatest presidents. I'm merely pointing out that we don't need "another" Reagan. Just as Reagan was an original, we need someone new on the scene who can deal with the new challenges facing us. Reagan's solutions were appropriate for the challenges he faced; they won't work now.

“...they won’t work now.”

Nor will Giuliani.......for those of us who wish to elect a true conservative.

WRONG! Of course they'll work today. The conservative politics of Ronald Reagan is exactly what the GOP and America needs today. A strong defense, limited govt, tax reform, support for pro-life issues. Add to that the fifth issue of paramount concern, tough immigration reform.

You make a huge mistake when you rattle off issues that you suggest Reagan failed at. That is a simplification process that doesn't hold up under a serious scrutiny or intelligent debate of the issues. It also creates the appearance of taking pot shots at the Reagan legacy. Not a good move around this forum. IOW, it comes across similiar to how the liberal establishment defined Reagan for years in their pop culture magazines like Time and Newsweak. Soundbite politics will only get you in hot water with conservatives.

Our spendthrift Congress was, at least in part, to blame for the budget deficit. One might recall that in 1987, Congress overrode a presidential veto to pass a pork-laden spending bill into law.
