We’ve been on the *Do Not Call* registry for a long time now. We still get some who are exempt, usually police benevolent kind of stuff, which I don’t but anyway. Otherwise, it has helped tremendously. I don’t trust ANYONE who calls up looking for my money.

I used to get those "police benevolent" kind of calls too, despite being on the federal do-not-call list.

One of them even showed up as "police-emergency" or some such thing on the caller ID -- obviously designed to alarm the call recipient into thinking some family member had been in an accident and that it was the police calling!

They wouldn't quit, even after I told them I never gave money over the phone. So I filed complaints with the do-not-call registry, and haven't heard from them since.
