As I left for work last night, I heard there was a tornado near Greensburg about 100 miles from here. Since they are usually small tornados out in barren fields, I just prayed for the safety of those in its path. I think I prayed that the hail not be too bad, since that causes more damage.....

I saw lightning to the east as we went west to work (night shift). After lunch break, a co-worker told me that her husband had called saying most of Greensburg was destroyed. He was there helping with the clean up. I was shocked that this would happen to a place that I pass through while driving to Wichita. We often stopped at "The Big Well" or convenience stores in that town.... I fear seeing the pictures.

SPC just put up a (rare) “High” risk for today, covering West-Central Kansas and Nebraska. Same area to be hit again.

The Red Cross was in Holly Colorado for several days and The Salvation Army is just ending a thirty day stretch there. This was after their town was hard hit also. These organizations could surely use some funding if one is inclined to help.

Prayers up for our easterly neighbors. There is Hope.

A single tornado, a mile wide? Wow.

More likely a multiple-vortex tornado. Several smaller funnels orbiting around each other. Very devastating type of storm.

Just like the OKC May 3 tornado. God Bless those people. It took years to recover from that monster.
