But why wouldn't Specter bring up the difference in heights as to why Connolly's wounds were where they were?

My guess is Specter and his political advisors don't see much political upside to him going around and making unsolicited statements defending the Warren Commission report, given what polls show the American people believe about the report. And it certainly is not in the interest of the conspiracy book sellers to interview Specter on this point - they are the ones trying to get everyone to believe the falsehood.
BTW, the middle photo I posted clearly has the back seat in that limo raised higher than was the case in the limo JFK and Connolly were riding in.
