Just a question:

How come the mob rarely surfaces in these discussions?

It’s plausible: Sam Giacanni (sp?) threw the election for John and got squat for it; in fact Bobby declared war, arguably.

They had the motive; they had the means, and the know-how...

The mob is afraid to kill judges, policemen, and reporters. They faced far worse prosecution in later years without killing anyone.

From what I've read, there were a lot of people or groups with motive.

I don't know what to make of all the conspiracy theories. I don't start with the conspiracy. I start with the official version and go out.

I had read that Hunt was not home on the day and then he lied about it. His family never backed his story as far as I know. That's easier for me to believe than many versions.

I don't think Hunt's involvement precludes any of several theories.

Two stories from the mob sound plausible too, but the pattern of the mob was not to make the general public mad, so what was the gain? WQouldn't they have risked the wrath of the entire country and all the government agencies. Hard to buy.

One story that Giancana sent Roselli and another guy to tell Joe Kennedy that he was a little miffed that the boys were going after the mafia when he had done so much to help in the election. Joe said he would talk to them when they came home for Christmas. Meanwhile he stroked out and supposedly never had the conversation. Joe Bonana confirmed the same story in the epilogue to his Showtime movie.

The other story that the mnafia in NO was mad because RFK had swept up Marcello off the street and had him dropped in the hills of Guatamala without money or ID.

The Hunt story is the one that seems the most believable to me since it directly connects the suspect with unknown whereabouts on the day of the shooting. And Hunt surely seem capable of planning and being involved.

I don't think we will ever know anything with certainty because of time passing and people dying of old age. So meanwhile it's one of our national pasttimes.

To kill JFK? Sure they did.

But they didn't have the means or the know-how to do the cover-up, and, far from silencing RFK and enlisting him as a helper, any Mafia involvement would have made RFK chase them to the gates of hell.

Wiseguys only bet on a sure thing, and nothing could be less sure (for them) than the aftermath of whacking America's capo di tutti capi.

Capisce?
