“Mormonism is not what makes Utah conservative. Utah is conservative because it is a member of the Intermountain States and all those States are governed by individual rights.”
Utah is a whole lot more conservative that Colorado these days.
Mormons vote 90% Republican. If that’s not keeping Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming red, I don’t know what is.
Urban societies are generally liberal. Rural societies are generally conservative.
Colorado has become more Urban and infiltrated by the left. It has happened in Montana, and will continue to happen in Utah, Nevada, and even Wyoming to a lesser extent. Mormons cannot have enough babies to counter balance it. The tide is turning in the West. The only way to stop it is to promote our ideals.
They don’t necessarily have to be LDS ideals, they can be conservative ideals, or rugged individualism.
One thing that disturbs me about Mormonism is the tendency to think they are better than the rest of us. Why heck, if it weren’t for all those good Mormon folks in Utah, it would just be another liberal State.
Don’t be confused tantiboh, conservatism is a solid political idea - - it is not Mormonism and it is not dependant upon Mormonism, and it will continue even if Mormonism is wiped from the face of the earth. The rugged indivualist of this country drive it, Mormonism does not.
