I'm sure some Catholics do say that. We don't see one of the Popes going around, like Ezra Taft Benson, emphasizing "14 Fundamentals of the Pope." You'll find that in American circles, there's more of an emphasis on what the real meaning of priests were in the OT: Man's rep before God--an intercessor--and not as much the reverse of that--God's rep before men.
