In John 10, Jesus is citing Ps. 82.
Who did LDS apostle James Talmage (author of Articles of Faith & other LDS books) say Ps. 82 was referencing, true gods?
No way! Talmage said that since Ps. 82:1-7 clearly references “unjust judges” as these gods, they couldn’t be referring to true divine gods (unless you think gods are unjust).
Also, Jesus said they were gods already (”ye are gods”). Not “ye will become gods.”
So unjust judges are already gods, eh? That’s your theology?
Not only that, but Jesus should know that Psalms is NOT part of the law.
Yeah, I know. Since LDS simplify Jesus as simply the "firstborn" in the pre-existence era, I can understand why you think Jesus is easily confused. ("Hey, ya know, if YOU, Net, were lucky, YOU might have been Jesus!" Note for the unitiated in LDS thought: Jesus, as the elder brother of all LDS & all pre-earth spirits, is deemed distinctive in his pre-Savior days only due to simple birth order of literal spirits born to Heavenly Ma & Pa in Kolob...thereby making Jesus only different--prior to his life on earth--to Mormons in degree).
Anyway, the true Jesus, I'm quite sure, could keep both the Mosaic Law and the Psalms quite straight. As for LDS, well, they not only have to...
keep the Mosaic Law,
+ another 350+ commands from the NT;
+ however many more commands are in the BoM;
+ the commands from the 136 sections of the D&C;
+ 70-odd pages of the PoGP;
+ anything the LDS prophet has said or will add under alleged divine direction since April 6, 1830;
+ all the directives & guidelines from 70 general authorities (& accumulative it's more than 70 due to attrition every decade)...these may not always carry the weight of prophetic law, but close enough;
then there's tracking what bishops, mission society, presidents, seminary teachers, institute teachers, missionary school trainers, general conference speakers, authorized LDS writers & HQ pubs...
Whew!!! Is it siesta time yet? Or is my weariness sourced in empathizing with those burdened by a massive spiritual law-based bureaucracy that left the Pharisees in the dust long ago?
