The “Mormon issue” seems to be more important to the drive-by media than to the grass-roots Republican voters.

Agreed. This anti-Mormon/Romney issue is being fanned by the left, not the right, as a means to divide the GOP.

I am a member of a conservative protestant denomination. I have never heard any anti-Mormon stuff preached from the pulpit. That said, it’s obvious Mormon’s aren't a traditional Christian denomination, but so what? I don’t care. That is not the reason I won’t vote for Romney. He’s too liberal for me and is trying to hard to appear to be conservative.

This is much to do about nothing. Romney is not going to get the nomination because he is too liberal, not because he is Mormon.

To "fan" a division means you have to recognize an underlying faultline is already present. So, you should have added the qualifier, "further" divide the GOP. (I mean it's not like the GOP is united in presidential candidates already, right?).

It's the pro-Romney folks who want to pretend that there is no division, and to just right it off to "bigots" and "loonies."

And this way, they are acting like the "left," whose philosophy is "all we have to do is label somebody in such a way and we can effectively marginalize them."

Shame on so-called "conservatives" to use the left's tactics!
