Furthermore, withdrawing from the present engagement in Iraq without finishing it would be a sign of weakness that the jihad monkeys will see as a green light to intensify and continue their attacks both here and abroad. Moreover, our withdrawal would be a huge recruiting tool for the jihadists for years to come.

What makes you think that our engagement in Iraq does not provide a "huge recruiting tool for the jihadists" NOW?

It seemed to work for Carter and Reagan in supporting the mujaheddin against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. What makes you think that many Iraqis are not similarly motivated to join the various insurgent and terrorist factions -- simply because, regardless of how noble we believe our motives to be, we are nonetheless Armed Foreigners in Their Land?

I wish Ron had done better tonight. Life in Ron's America would simply be much richer in freedom (IRS-gone, BATFE-whacked, etc.)

Iraq, and the treasure spent trying to 'liberate' it, will have longterm costs to everything that affects this country: technology, energy, science, etc.

This Manhattan Project-dwarfing investment had better produce a return that our grandchildren will reap benefits from for quite some time, else they'll be deeply saddened.

About the only way this could happen would be for our efforts to result in a type of 'virus' that could render Islam extinct.

No more shots fired, just folks ditching the Koran for a better life as exemplified by the strides made among free people. Until I see evidence of this, I'll remain weary of our efforts in the middle east and the motivation (whether short term or long term) behind our involvement.

This kind of lame, shallow, moonbatism on FR makes me quite annoyed. How can we take Ron Paul seriously when OP so badly misrepresents what is going on in Iraq? So we get in Ron Paul a fiscal conservative who happens to have the same position on Iraq as Ron Dellums, Howard Dean, and Al jazeera??!?!? Phooey!

today, sheiks are joining us to fight AQ in Anbar:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0503/p01s04-wome.html?page=4

Iraq has become a recruiting tool for *US* to find muslims willing to fight A.Q. because AQ has killed more Iraqis than anyone else in the last 3 years.

And OP should know that Muslim extremists have attacked Christians for centuries:

Bin laden and AQ have recruited terrorists since the 1980s. It mind-blowing cluelessnees to assert that our liberation of Iraq created terrorism when it has been around for years prior.
