Yes Rosie, The War Is Lost~The Typical Democrat Double Standard
National Political Digest.com ^ | 2007 | Mark Harris

War is the most horrible stage in human relations. That is why most leaders defer to it only as a last resort. Now, good people might disagree as to when war should finally be triggered, but that is the debate that takes place within most modern social structures.

The Iraq war began only after a series of events, or lack thereof, took place. Calls for the President’s and Vice-President’s respective impeachments are ludicrous. There is an historical record in this, perhaps more than most, that belies such poppycock. ...

...In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson instigated (and I mean that in the most derogatory fashion) the infamous "War on Poverty". This "war" has negatively effected millions of people at the lower end of society and has fleeced the American Taxpayer out of trillions of hard earned dollars!...

...In these years since LBJ started the "war", there have been hundreds of thousands of murders just in America’s larger cities. Let us not go into all the other violent crimes. The statistics are staggering as are the numbers of policemen and firemen and innocent who have lost their lives... New Orleans is a perfect example of Democrat rule since the ancients. ...just like the Democrat rule in most of the cities. This is what trillions of dollars have bought for us.

...do the same thing with the cities of America that you want to do with Baghdad, and, by extension, Iraq. PULL OUT NOW! You don’t want to appear disingenuous, do you? Leave the metro areas of our country to fend for themselves. The "War on Poverty" is an unabashed flop! ...Unlike all our previous wars and the Iraq War which all stressed Freedom, the "War on Poverty" promotes Enslavement!...

I agree completely. The Democrats and liberals should be called to task for the results of the war on poverty. We fought a war on poverty, and poverty arguably won. They should be held accountable for the many failures of the war on poverty.

Will they ever be held accountable? Apparently if you are liberal, and your “heart is in the right place” and you are “compassionate” enough, the results of government policies and programs don’t matter.

Only if you are Republican / conservative do we look to the real world results of programs and policies. Only Republicans can be held accountable for any policy failures.

Will they ever be held accountable?

Ronald Reagan was known for speaking the truth about this sort of thing.

“We fought a war on poverty, and poverty arguably won.”

I understand your direction, but I have a different take if I may. Look at the Bureaucracies the Dem/Socialists were able to create simply by advocating for “The Poor”, and other Leftist “concerns”, and the Bureaucracies created to allegedly fight “The War On Poverty”. It isn’t by accident they control Government as they swallowed up the leadership of (and made them untouchable) the World of U.S. Government Bureaucracy.

Elected officials come and go while Bureaucrats are forever. It’s no wonder the Dems, Libs, Socialists are so crazed with big Government. They thrive on the POWER the creation of those Bureaucracies provides for them.

although I must say I just decided that, where Rosie O'Donnell is concerned, I may actually be in favor of a burkha.

and a muzzle.

and a one-way ticket to bora-bora.

Actually the whole point of the article really has little to do with the tv personalities as much as it does to highlight the hypocracy of the left using the “war on poverty” as an example. Please go to the site & read the whole article, it is really good. It quotes Bill Clinton’s 1998 speech on why we got involved in Iraq in the first place.
