Tell us, how many states once countenanced slavery?

Not all actions by a state are constitutional. Ones that directly violate the Preamble are obviously in error. Ones that take life are even more egregious, in the aftermath of a Civil War that brought us the Fourteenth Amendment.

No state can take innocent life. Period.
