The flour you use to bake your bread has wheat gluten in it. I have made my own bread my entire life—my family won’t eat anything else. I use a meat slicer to slice it. This is a mess. Where do you get hand ground flour in the US? I am mad as hell and there is nothing we can do about it—we are talking staples not something we can just eliminate.

Pioneer Brand Flour says they do not import any product for their flour, and you can order online...

I actually called Pioneer Flour on the phone to ask them if they imported ANY of their flour or supplies; they told me flat out that they DO NOT IMPORT ANY OF THEIR SUPPLIES. They said their wheat comes mostly from Kansas, and all of their other products are U.S. made as well...

I am asking their sales rep to send me a spec sheet so I can have it in writing, for confirmation.

Whether or not this applies to their mixes I do not know - please call and ask them to ask where they get their wheat and corn - you’ll get a real person in Texas!!

A few people are angry thinking that our government is going to protect us when they don’t. Remember that governments are not efficient and they never will be.

Get back into taking the responsibility for your own health where it belongs, with you not a bureaucrat. I am certain that your mom canned her own foods and more than likely grew most of them or bought them from trusted neighbors.

Buying vegetable goods from foreign countries in the middle of our winter has always been a risky business in my mind because their farmers don’t operate under the same rules as ours do.

I have some Vegan friends who get diareaha every couple of months during the winter. They hate it when I ask if they can their own foods. I just shake my head and quietly chuckle. Asking them to consider “Buy American” as a policy would be unPC.

Yes, self reliance is a different lifestyle but it most certainly is a satisfying one.

You might try this company:

http://www.bobsredmill.com/

They have a number of gluten-free products. I just emailed them asking about their various flours. If you like I will let you know their reply when I get one.
