Polls, smolls. The will be a compromise. Bush will not receive the clean bill he wanted. I agree that there will probably be benchmarks in the new bill, but I don't share your optimism on what form they will take. Remember, the Dems must be able to claim victory as well as the WH, so each side will have things in the bill that the other side doesn't like.
The left has all but decimated any chances they had for holding their majority in 2008 and have absolutely no chance to grab the WH.
I wish that were true. The Dems will be heavily favored to retain control over Congress in 2008. It took us 40 years to gain control over the House and the Dems 12 years to take it back. There is no way we are going to get it back in two years. And we have far more Senate seats at risk in 2008 than the Dems have. If the war in Iraq is still problematic, the Dems will use it against us.
All this liberal press mania about the inevitability of the lib surge continuing is nothing but whistling past the grave yard. America loves it's military and will long remember the Dem attempts to use them as a pawn in their political aspirations. The entire future of the Democrat Party is wholly dependent on us losing the war in Iraq. In trying to attain this goal they will destroy themselves. What we are seeing now is the equivilent of a "Hail Mary" pass from the libs
Wishing doesn't make it so.
Told ya so!!
