Cam Edwards at NRANews.com tipped me Friday night: The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence will have another $250-a-plate fundraiser in Washington on May 15, like their 2005 event at the French Embassy celebrating the 80th birthday of liberal political humorist Art Buchwald (one major toastmaster was CBS News legend Mike Wallace).
An ad on the Brady Campaign home page for this years "Stand Up For A Safe America" fundraiser (honoring Democratic Rep. Rahm Emanuel) shows this years Master of Ceremonies is ABC News legend Sam Donaldson. Sam just wisecracked on This Week that gun owners have their weapons "to shoot the paperboy and the relative coming home late at night."
Sam is still an employee of ABC News, hosting the daily program "Politics Live" for ABC News Now, a digital network, with a "Stump Sam" feature. I'm stumped as to why Sam Donaldson thinks this doesn't create a partisan image for ABC, but ABC must have given him the okay.
Let's stump Sam with one of the dumbest weapon-control media quotes ever. It's so dumb that I still remember it, and it's very dated. It's from 1990. But it made me wonder if we'd have a National Knife Association soon:
"The slaying, and those that preceded it and will follow it, certainly will intensify cries for more police and harsher penalties for criminals. But as long as the type of knife used to kill Watkins is sold in half of the variety stores in Times Square, it will be difficult to recruit enough police to erase this crime wave." -- Washington Post reporter Michael Specter on the stabbing of a Utah man in New York, September 6, 1990.
The DBM make no pretense anymore.
Sam Donaldson’s mouth and as*hole are interchangeable parts. What a scum bag.
Sam who?
Guess it was all a ruse so the Clintons can say it was "addressed already."
Vulcan Sam uses a phaser anyway.
I’ll bid $20 for that roadkill on Sam’s head.
Sam Donaldson is a turd. I was at the 1988 Republican national Convention in New Orleans. I was standing five feet from Sam Donaldson when he berated some poor girl (obviously a lowly stafferA) for some mis-step. It was ugly. He was a bully, picking on an underling. What an asshole.
I saw Sam Donaldson in 1984 in Denver at a Reagan event and told him to his face that he was a jerk. He just turned around and walked away. He knew it.
incestuous bastard
In the early 1980s, my father and sister were driving past an estate in the Hope Ranch area of Santa Barbara, California. There were trucks and cameras from the major TV networks parked alongside the road, and a crowd of “No Contra Aid” leftists and pro-Sandanista protestors on the other side of the road. Apparently, there was a Republican Party fundraiser at a nearby estate, and President Reagan was attending this function. As my father and sister slowly started to drive past the scene, Sam Donaldson suddenly walks out into the middle of the road, causing my father and sister to come to a complete stop. The protestors starting hooting and hollering, thinking my father and sister were attending the fundraiser, which they were not.....they were just taking a leisurely drive on their way home. Donaldson purposely stood in front of their car in order to get a reaction from the moonbat protestors.
I later told my father, “He (Donaldson) is lucky I wasn’t driving the car, because I would have run his ass over!”
Any chance you can gather some DC freepers with some good signs to greet the guest as they arrive?
It appears that you are 100% correct...
;>)
David Lynch (on Dennis Miller’s show today) was saying that we can “end school violence” with “trancendential mediation.” We just need inner peace and balance. Talk about barf alert.
No liberal bias at ABC? ROFL! I guess libertarian reporter John Stossel is has such a powerful message the management considers that he alone balances out the entire remaining staff.
Ah the appearance of impropriety . . .
Why does it not apply to Teleprompter readers?
Sam's the tall one.
