Just 18 days after suffering numerous serious injuries in an automobile crash, Gov. Jon S. Corzine, D-N.J., was released from Cooper University Hospital Monday and issued an emotional statement to the public.
"I understand I set a very poor example for a lot of young people, a lot of people in general," said a teary-eyed Corzine, who was not wearing a seat belt when he was critically injured in an April 12 automobile crash on the Garden State Parkway. "I certainly hope the state will forgive me and I will work very hard to try to set the right kind of example to make a difference in people's lives as we move forward."
Corzine was driven to the governor's mansion in Princeton to continue to rehabilitate his broken left leg. He is expected to resume his gubernatorial duties from the mansion, though not immediately.
"As I said last week I'm a blessed human being. I could not be more grateful for the support I've had from all the people of the state, the family, the medical people, the people that rescued me," Corzine said. "I just want to make sure I say thank you.
The 60-year-old governor was riding in the front passenger seat of an SUV driven by a state trooper on April 12 on the Garden State Parkway. He was hurrying from a speech in Atlantic City to a meeting at the mansion between disgraced former radio host Don Imus and the Rutgers University women's basketball team, about which Imus made offensive remarks.
The governor's Suburban was traveling at 91 mph when it was clipped by a truck and lost control, slamming into a guardrail. Corzine wasn't wearing his seat belt, as required by state law.

And unfortunately in NJ he's right, the rules don't apply to "the right kind of people". He'll be contrite for a few days, and pay his traffic ticket, and a few weeks from now he'll be right back to stealing from us, and intruding in our lives. In NJ, the rules are only to keep the stupid serfs in line.
If the rest of the country had the same government we do, there would be armed revolution tomorrow. But for some reason the trained chimps that live here seem to think that's it's perfectly OK.

No, the real crime is the guy is an absolute idiot and should be removed from office IMMEDIATELY. If you can believe it, he left the hospital and once again was caught speeding. This idiot is truly the definition of the Darwin awards and it really ticks me off how much everyone is kissing his ass. What if he killed somebody?
This idiot may take his life for granted, but when he puts other people at risk so easily, he should be absolutely nowhere near politics. WHat kind of water are the people in New Jersey drinking anyway? It`s just one absolute schmuck politician after another, yet they keep re-electing them.

My guess is that he will be hooked pretty good on the painkillers before this is over.
Apparently he has hardened many hearts! I did feel compassion for him today when I saw him emoting. From, I must tell you, EVERYWHERE I’ve read, I guess I’m the only one — I suppose it’s one of my many flaws to occasionally have hope for the fallen of this world? I’m always looking for the next Saul to Paul conversion...sigh!

Clearly the governor’s arrogance remained intact during his trauma.
You'd better not throw around your money so loosely. The chance of survival of cardiac arrest from trauma, even with CPR, is less than 1%.
A more likely possibility is that he hit his chest on the dashboard when he decelerated from 91 mph. That's a lot more than 275 lbs. of force. Lucky he didn't shear his aorta.
Not just the gov's if another NJ state trooper was driving him...
A minor correction to your post.
Governor Corzine will somehow weave a gun-confiscation angle into this whole sordid story.
The SUV was an official state vehicle, and the driver a state trooper. If the SUV had grill lights and siren, AND THEY WERE IN USE, then there would be no violation, except of common sense.
How does a vehicle going 91 mph get clipped by a truck? It could clip a truck that it was overtaking, but I sort of doubt the truck was overtaking it.
