Netherlands: General Amnesty Also for Lying Asylum-Seekers
NIS News ^ | April 30 2007

HAGUE, 28/04/07 - Asylum-seekers who lied about their identity or background in their asylum application will be admitted to the general amnesty anyway. The cabinet has agreed on this, insiders in The Hague reported Friday.

In their coalition accord, the Christian democrats (CDA), Labour (PvdA) and small Christian party ChristenUnie agreed earlier that there would be a one-time amnesty for rejected asylum-seekers who applied for asylum before 1 April 2001 and have since remained in the Netherlands. Last month, insiders already reported that they would be allowed to have a criminal record providing it showed no unconditional jail sentence of 30 days or more.

It has now also been decided to open the scheme to aliens who lied about their identity, land of origin or flight account. The cabinet, say the sources, will not admit those who lied repeatedly. Those who 'only' lied once must admit they did this. War criminals are excluded.

TV programme RTL Nieuws reported that the amnesty will only cost 55 million euros, whereas 550 million had been spoken of earlier. It is not yet clear how this revision could be so drastic. The pardon is expected to apply to 20,000 to 45,000 persons.

Conservative (VVD) MP Henk Kamp considers it "downright scandalous" that the cabinet is "rewarding liars" while those who spoke the truth have been deported. "The whole general pardon scheme makes no sense from any direction."

Justice State Secretary Nebahat Albayrak confirmed after Friday's weekly cabinet meeting that there was consensus but declined to give details of the regulation.

“he cabinet, say the sources, will not admit those who lied repeatedly. Those who ‘only’ lied once must admit they did this.” Defining deviancy down, and speeding up the destruction of their country.

Why don’t they just send up the white flag now?
Talk about suicidal!
I hope we are not giving these MO-rons any foreign aid.

Hmm… Too many of these Christian conservative parties in this article if we consider that it is about Netherlands. The country is rather known from indorsing radical leftist ideas. Are they Christians by name only? How they look for example in comparison with CDU-CSU in Germany?

Last time I did see some numbers about Christianity in the Ntherlands, it was like only 30% attending churches reguarly. The mentioned CDA is a Christian party, but mostly in name only. Over here they also call it the IDA (islamic democratic appel). The CU is very Christian though.

Thanks, it is hard to get reliable information. I distrust media reports very much.
