April 30, 2007 -- Rudy Giuliani for president. That's amore!
A Post review of campaign filings reveals Republican Giuliani is igniting ethnic pride and support from many of the nation's 25 million Italian-Americans, including national leaders and business titans hoping to elect the first president of Italian descent.
Home Depot founder Ken Langone is the campaign's New York City finance chairman, a key player in raising millions of dollars in cash.
Former New York Stock Exchange head Dick Grasso is also a Giuliani man.
Eight officers or board members of the influential National Italian American Foundation have contributed more than $2,000 apiece to the Giuliani campaign.

So that will not help him in the south, where he will tank.
There are parts of the South that have huge Italian communities.
Italians have given so much richness to the American culture. We will benefit if an Italian is POTUS, whoever that may be. Look at the SC. One of the finest mind on that court is Italian-American.
LOL! MY relatives live in North Carolina and believe me they are very Italian.
Yes they do. Everywhere I go in this country there are Italians. Its amazing.
Well I do not know a single person in TX who would vote for this liberal loser. I do know several who like myself will go third party if he is nominated.
Other backers include: Pasta magnate Anthony Gioia of Buffalo.
'Pasta' Magnate??? .....
I don’t like the term “Italian-American.” To me, an Italian-American is an Italian citizen who emigrated to America a became a naturalized citizen.
Three of my grandparents were born in Italy, and came to America when they were young. My paternal grandmother was born in New Jersey, and her parents were from Italy.
My grandparents, all four of them, are deceased and have been for many years. I consider myself to be an American, period, NOT an Italian-American.
Even though he hasn’t declared yet, I’m supporting Fred Thompson. Rudy is too liberal for me, even though I grew up in the New York area. I can’t see too many Southerners getting excited about a presidential candidate who supports gun grabbing, abortion, homosexual marriage, illegal immigration, etc.
By the way, Tom Tancredo is an American of Italian heritage. I would support him over Rudy.
President Bush to Nominate Gioia to be Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Malta
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Anthony H. Gioia to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Malta.
"Anthony Gioia is a leader in the New York business community and has a record of public service. I am confident that he will bring commitment and competence to the post of Ambassador to Malta," said President Bush.
Gioia is presently the Chairman and CEO of Gioia Management Company, a management and investment holding company located in Buffalo, New York. He served in the Gioia family pasta business as Vice President and then President/CEO until RHM, Inc., purchased Gioia Macaroni. He then became the President and CEO of RHM Pasta, Inc. He is the former Chairman of the National Pasta Association and was appointed by Governor George Pataki to be a Board Member of the New York State Urban Development Corporation. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and received his M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
Yeah, but what a shame if Giuliani is the first Italian president. Why not a conservative like Gov. Carcieri, Sen. Domenici, Rep. Manzullo?

I don’t know, but it’s not surprising. Take a look at the huge bug zapper thread. And before anyone goes off half-cocked, note that every single one of the folks in that thread who were banned had either posted derogatory remarks about FR/conservatives/JimRob, or they asked for their accounts to be deleted.
Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
