“I notice the biggest Giuliani supporters were those who claimed national security overrode their claimed pro-life/pro-family/pro-gun convictions with the remainder of them being liberal Republicans who thought he could win Blue states.”
Remember the posts hoping Joe Lieberman would switch to the GOP? He and Giuliani are one and the same.
Giuliani would probably win running as a Dem, but he could never get himself nominated.
The problem the conservatives have is finding ONE person to vote for in the primaries - I see Giuliani winning the nomination almost by default, with conservative support being diffused among Hunter, Thompson, Tancredo, et al.

(Mother Nature and Real Life are conservatives - the Progs have never figured this out.)

I don't think so. I think Thompson will run. Ron Paul will suck up about 4% of the vote. Romney will get 8%-10%. The second-tier candidates will get 7%-8% combined. Giuliani and Thompson will split about 80% of the remaining vote.
I would agree that if we don't unite behind Thompson, Giuliani has a real chance.
