Whoever wrote that should be shot because what they are doing is castrating the common US citizen. “17 to 45”...Screw the bastard who wrote that crap!
During the Revolutionary war, EVERYONE was part of “The Militia”, everyone who wanted freedom that is. The forefathers wrote the second amendment solely to uphold that, to show that everyone is responsible for their own freedom and life, not the government.
. What liberals are doing today is giving power to psychopaths. Like my brother says, when you get into a heated argument with someone or get close to punches, most people will never punch even though a punch, or assault can kill just as much as a gun, but people don`t because they know they can get their asses sued off and spend up to 7 years in jail for assault.
Why would people who carry guns act any diffent? The right to carry guns is as strong a constitutional right as is freedom of speech, which is another right liberals are now destroying.
If it was up to me, I`d have madatory gun training for Kindergardners all the way through High School. Everyone has a right to use whatever means necessary to defend the only life they have, not to lay down as sheep so some psychopath can get his rocks off.
That there be a Declaration or Bill of Rights, asserting and securing from Encroachment the essential and unalienable Rights of the People, in some such Manner as the following.
* * *
17. That the People have a Right to keep & to bear Arms; that a well regulated Militia, composed of the Body of the People, trained to Arms, is the proper natural and safe Defence of a free State; that standing Armys in time of Peace are dangerous to Liberty, and therefore ought to be avoided, as far as the Circumstances and Protection of the Community will admit; and that in all Cases, the Military shou'd be under strict Subordination to and govern'd by the Civil Power.

The text that you're criticizing is definition of the "The militia of the United States." In addition, each state and territory has its own militia with its own definition thereof. (The US Constitution calls these the "Militia of the several States.") Usually, the upper age limit is in the 60's or 70's. So, you can be a member of your state's militia without being a member of "The militia of the United States."
Regardless, the courts have rules that all competent, law-abiding adults can keep and bear arms regardless of militia (organized or unorganized) membership, with few exceptions. For example, in some states, women are excluded from the state militia. However, in no state is a woman prohibited from posessing a firearm based soley on her gender.
