If this is true, then apparently the WSJ has given up all hope for saving Wolfowitz. Just as I had forecast, their ridiculously emotionalistic and overly technical defenses of the guy, focused primarily on attacking the motives of the accusers, obscured the real problems that the Bank board was seeing. Wolfie's Journal pals' rabid defense of him strongly resembled their overdone whitewater ravings, which also led to no victory. When will they ever learn?

Stan Fischer, despite his propensity to say weird things, is usually a good guy and knows that crowd very well, he might be a better match for the job. Wolfie can lead a think tank or better still, join Bono on something.

I respectfully disagree. It is NOT a good idea to allow the Euros to mount a coup and take control of the World Bank.

They are doing so partly as a power move, and partly because they want the World Bank to be more politically correct. Instead of aiding poorer nations, they want to abort their children and do the warm & fuzzy global warming act, which will help destroy everyone’s economy.

Wolfowitz’s girlfriend is merely a bogus excuse for a power grab. Frankly, I’d rather see the World Bank abolished than to see it join the UN and all the other international institutions that are helping to make the world a worse place for humanity.

We don’t need yet another institution pushing family planning and forced abortions on the world.
