BARQUISIMETO, Venezuela (Reuters) - Cuban President Fidel Castro is back "in charge" after undergoing intestinal surgery in July, his friend and protege Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday.

An intestinal ailment has kept the Communist leader out of the public eye for the past nine months, sparking speculation about whether he will return to power, which he ceded temporarily to his brother Raul on July 31.

"He is charge, he is in charge, he is doing a lot of thinking," Chavez said in a speech at a Latin American summit.

Chavez has already said that Castro, 80, has taken back much of his governing role informally.

Bolivian President Evo Morales has said he is sure Castro will attend a May Day parade in Havana, but Chavez said he did not know whether his mentor would be there.

Hey, if the MsM can make Obama a “viable” candidate for President, they can keep Fidel alive and in power as well.

That’s good. I’d much rather he be “Ceaucescue’d” rather than go peacefully.

Well if Fidel is back in charge then, Bush should challenge Fidel to a debate at the UN. Calling him out would really PO Hugo and the other commie sham artists. Doubt Fidel has the intestinal fortitude as it were.

Looks like there are bullet holes in the wall beneath the portraits. Maybe her defense of the revolution office has been unually busy in recent weeks.

When the foreign doctors were laboring about in Fidel’s intestines, did they by any chance happen to locate his head?

This photo of Fuzzy Face is more recent (supposedly taken just a couple of weeks ago) and almost certainly presents a more accurate description of the Great One's medical condition than Hugo Chavez' puffing.

Smart money says the dictator either doesn't show for May Day, or at best puts in a token appearance.

Incidentally, he has been enjoying the benefits of socialized medicine in the worker's paradise for over eight months now - a recovery process which we were promised would take only a couple of weeks at most.

I say this guy is already dead, or has completely lost it. So this is why we no longer hear from him directly. Remember its always a tape. That is a good hint something is wrong.

Forty seven years ago Castro’s Cuba attempted to overthrow the government of Venezuela. They were caught “with their hand in the cookie jar”.

I see they have finally succeeded.
