There is one freeway through San Francisco. Interstate 80 coming off the Bay Bridge to Oakland connects through to 101 coming up from the peninsula. The main missing freeway link is to the Golden Gate bridge, connecting San Francisco north to Marin county.

True. I was thinking about the like to the Golden Gate Bridge when I wrote. The link will never be built unfortuately.

The cost alone would be a fortune if they just did one connection to the Golden Gate Bridge (either CA Highway 1 or US Highway 101). If it were to happen, it probably be US 101.

Maybe they could use the Great Highway for part of it?
