Homer's Big-Screen Odyssey (Bart's weenis)
Newsweek via MSNBC ^ | 4:43 p.m. CT April 21, 2007 | Sean Smith

To make it on the big screen, you have to give people something spectacular. Something extraordinary. Something like Bart Simpson—full frontal. It happens early in "The Simpsons Movie," when the animated 10-year-old takes a dare from his goofball father, Homer, to skateboard naked through the streets of Springfield. Hidden by plants and picket fences, he whizzes along, past kids, down hills, through traffic lights, until, in one shocking moment, little Bart flashes his little part to the entire world.

An online poll conducted in 2003 by the BBC declared Homer Simpson "The Greatest American." No. 2: Abraham Lincoln. "Homer is what other countries think America is like," says writer-producer Al Jean, who has been with the show since the beginning. "Voting for Homer was like saying, 'Screw you, America.' It's probably part of our success."

...

"Every time someone creates a Ralph Kramden or an Archie Bunker or a Homer Simpson, it's considered one of the greatest characters on TV," Jean says. "Because that's who people really are. We're a show about a family, a screwed-up family, and that's where most people come from."

"Homer is what other countries think America is like,"

Like the French who think that Jerry Lewis is greatest comedic actor that the US has produced.

I liked Lewis until I was about fourteen after that he lost his luster. After about age 18 I found him infantile.

After you have seen two of his movies he becomes very predictable. The essence of humor is surprise. If you can see the punch line coming five seconds before he tells the joke all the humor is lost.

AS long as they fear us, who cares what the Europeans think America is like.

"'Homer is what other countries think America is like,' says writer-producer Al Jean..."

Well... liberal Americans, yes.

The majority of Americans really don't give a flip what Europe thinks. Like The Simpsons, Europe is mediocre. I used to like The Simpsons, but haven't watched it in years. It should have ended several seasons ago.

“The majority of Americans really don’t give a flip what Europe thinks.”

Europe thinks? Thinking ceased in Europe with Nietzsche, if not with Rousseau. Since then it’s been nihilism disguised as haute culture.

The trouble is, they think they think and they “think” of us as children incapable of real “thinking.” It’s called prejudice and bigotry.

The Simpsons jumped the shark years ago... when they abandoned their original humour and christian pro-family values, and adopted a totally obvious pro-gay, liberal, enviromentalist agenda, coupled with unfunny guest stars and toilet humour.

The Simpsons used to be funny? Hell, I don’t remember the show ever being funny.

How old is Bart? This may be kiddie porn in some areas?

Let’s not be knee-jerk here people... If you are a regular watcher of the Simpsons you would know that they skewer democraps on a pretty regular basis- just last night I saw a re-run where Sideshow Bob gets locked up for attempted murder and he says “You can’t keep the democrats out of the White House forever, and when they are back I’ll be out on the streets again too” (or something very similar)

I can give many many more examples.

Well, there might be some occasional punches against dems...

But nontheless the Simpsons moved far to the left during the last years. They are pushing a pro-gay, liberal, Al-Gore enviromentalist, anti-conservative agenda in an totally unsubtle way. Compare the last three seasons with those of mid-1990’s and you’ll see what I mean.

Actually, I once taped several of their back-to-back Halloween Episodes not too long ago, and even now find them absolutely hysterical. *grin*

But as for their 'normal' episodes --BORING.
