I don’t remember anymore. I just remember the look on their faces when I blurted it out. Maybe it had something to do with sex ed at school.
By the way, why does school teach about sex? Don’t parents do that anymore either?
I decided not to have children so I’m not up on what is taught at school anymore. I’m 35 now and remember cooking class and sewing class, and learning how to write checks and how to balance a checkbook. To be honest, neither of my parents taught me about any of those things. It bothers me that parents pass on their responsiblities of child raising to the government.
To be perfectly honest though, I don’t think it even occurs to most people, even people here at FR, that they are giving their children over to the government. We’ve all been raised with public school as a given but it wasn’t always like that. It’s not the Federal government’s job to educate anyone or take our tax money to do so.
I’m very pleased with the whole homeschooling trend. Do people who homeschool get any sort of tax break???
