The best thing would be to contact the PD author of that article. I thought of sending the poor guy some money myself. He’s only 25 and black as well. It’s a darn shame.
You do make a good point. There was a point made (since several articles in today’s paper were related to this story)about the fact that none of the black clergy have spoken out about this and supported that poor man who defended himself, nor have spoken out about that little thug.
It seems a lot of people seem to focus on his age - 15. But when you’re dead by a robber, whether he was 15 or 30 is sort of moot.
It is infuriating to me that we hear the same rhetoric over and over when there is an act of violence in these areas, or an innocent person, usually a child, is killed. People complain and call for it to stop, but nothing really is done. Of course what can the residents do when the courts keep releasing the criminals, or we hear the jails are “over crowded.”
When members of the community embrace the life of a gun toting teen though, then I say they get what they deserve. The next time a 15 year old kills while commiting a “robbery” don’t ask why, or don’t march in the streets demanding an end to the violence.
Well, he’s robbed a lot less folks at 15 than he would have if he’d reached 30. There’s good in everything, I guess. (smile)
