We are free to say whatever we want as long as we are willing to accept the consequences of having said it.

Maybe we should consider issuing militia membership licenses which would specify what sort of literature, implements and decorative plaques could be legally displayed or collectively owned.

"A struggle between transplanted European Socialism and American Classical Liberalism for control of the government at all levels from Federal to Local."Well said!

I doubt we will see any coverage of a “trial.”

“The ATF investigation, launched about seven weeks ago, climaxed Thursday with more than 150 federal, state and local law enforcement officers carrying out raids”
“All six men were taken into custody without incident.”
I think it is safe to say that the six “threats to government security” were somewhat outnumbered.

Maybe we should consider issuing militia membership licenses which would specify what sort of literature, implements and decorative plaques could be legally displayed or collectively owned. Your comment is a red herring. You are trying to draw attention away from the fact that these people may have purposefully broken federal law. Stolen fireworks, home made explosive devices, and silencers are NOT "implements and decorative plaques".
You want strong support for the 2nd Amendment? A$$holes like the ones arrested and statements like yours will not go very far in getting it from the majority of people who are on the fence about the matter. In fact, they go a long way in proving the left's argument that all militias and gun owners are rabid dog types that need more government scrutiny.

What use does a pig have for a herring, might as well get a bicycle.

How is this relevant?A healthy bit of paranoia is the basis of conservatism. The government ain't your friend.

That's the trouble with feeling sorry for folks in militias like this ... they're often covers for thieves and dope growers.Spot on!
I will support your right to make all the anti-government pronouncements you want. However, once you start making grenades and home-made firearms while giving yourself the title of "Colonel" or whatever, you have become my enemy.

The militia, which called itself the Naval Militia at one point, had enough armament to outfit a small army. 130 grenades and one improvised rocket launcher? That's a pretty darn small army.
The 2,500 rounds of ammo doesn't count... or if it does, I'm in deep doo-doo.

I don't mind the titles, so much. I make my wife and kids call me "General" around the house, and when we go on trips they have to call me "Supreme Allied Commander of Yonder Expeditionary Forces."
And what's home-made firearms between friends?
It's the stealing that I have a problem with. I can't abide a thief.
Dope growing not to the same extent, but it is against the law.
But forming a militia to cover and/or support illegal activities is a problem.

We classify these groups as violent and anti-government, said Jim Cavanaugh, who supervises the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives operations in portions of the South. They stockpile things and live off a fear, a paranoia theyre going to need weapons and explosives because some event is going to happen when they will need them.
BTW, this, JBT, ASAC Jim Cavanaugh was Deputy Tactical Coordinator at the Waco debacle. This time they didn't go in shooting, but otherwise this is exactly the same sort of "Raid" that the BATF attempted at Waco.
Cavanaugh said militia groups still pop up from time to time, and authorities' goal is to intercept them before the threat becomes a tragedy.
Like at Waco Jim? Hmm?

So theyre busting up these little ole white boy militias and Terrorist sleeper cells are still untouched? The Good Old Boys are more likely to give up peaceably. You don't seem them raiding the Crips and Bloods or MS-13 very often either.

Do you conssider the folks who wrote the Federalist Papers to be "paranoid"? Not nearly so "paranoid" as the Anti-Federalists. The Federalists *wanted* a strong central government, one supposedly of limited powers. The notion scared the anti-federalist shiitless.
Guess whose "Fears" were proved essentially correct in the end? (Jefferson and Patrick Henry, among many others, were *anti* federalists BTW).

Why should making your own firearms, just as many make their own ammunition, be a crime? How can there even be such a crime under a Constitution which states "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"?

Yes, it is alarming to what lengths the government will go to disarm the citizens of the United States. Don't make the mistake of elevating these dumb-a$$e$ into some sort of martyrs, though. They are criminals. Thanks, that needed to be said.
My Problem is that the fool reporter elevated perfectly legal conduct (ownership of guns, ammo, and (lol) Conservative Bumper Stickers) to the same as possession of drugs, bombs / hand grendades, etc. IMHO, an uninformed reader would peruse this piece of garbage and walk away with the opinion: Conservative = guns = bombs and drugs.
These fools no more represented myself and my opinions than a lib from Boston would.

I doubt these guys were making their own for legitimate purposes or that any of these guys would have passed the NICS.
